Following up to the projects inaugural debut, "Noblesse d'Épée" and the split with Sol Miracula, both released in 2020, Conifère's full-length is finally out and what a triumphant return it is.
Much different than the project's debut, "L'impot du Sang" takes a much cleaner and more melodic approach to Black Metal, definitely resembling some of their Québécois compatriots in projects like Monarque or Délétère, with a great songwriting combining beautiful, plaintive Folk passages and blasting moments of triumphant melodicism harkening back to times of old, chanting its land's myths of glory and treachery, always wrapped in a blanket of rustic and freezing atmosphere that permeates the Québecois countryside.
Over half-an-hour of blissful, masterfully executed Black Metal, balancing the sword-in-hand will power with a bucolic melancholy much present in francophone romanticism and in history of struggle and resiliance of these men's people.
